Where to intervene

Why it multiplies
Reading = Decoding × Language
The Simple View of Reading (Gough & Tunmer, 1986). A multiplication: if either factor is near zero, meaning is near zero.

How Kahani works
Teach foundational concepts in children's mother tongue. Then bridge to the school language.
A child who thinks in Kannada isn't behind. She just knows things in different words. So Kahani teaches the idea in the words she has, then trades them, a few at a time, for the ones school will test her in. That's the whole trick.
